Kodak Verichrome Pan Type 620

This roll looks fairly normal without obvious signs of distress, such as water stains, fading from prolonged exposure to sunlight or rust on the metal spool. Despite the normal look, the negative was in a poor condition. Another decade or two of storage would undoubtedly destroy whatever was remaining of the original images.

The dish on the last three images is undoubtedly the Parkes Radio Telescope in New South Wales, Australia. It is 64 metres in diameter. The telescope was officially opened on 31 October 1961 after three years of design and two years of construction. These three slides were taken between August 1967 and February 1970. In 1975 CSIRO printed a postcard showing a closer view of the facility.

The film must be shot in the 1960s or 1970s. It somehow found its way to the UK and spent a few decades in the college store room, just to return to Australia in 2022 to be developed.
